Movie Night

Andy and I just watched the movie 'Fireproof'. We loved it. As someone who has a vision to see Christian art done with excellence....I was encouraged and inspired. I have a knack for giving away movie endings or important moments...so I won't say anything about it...but I would encourage you all to go see it. Music and even dance have seemed to come a long way in exploring excellence while under the name 'Christian', but film has been a harder battle. Just the mere amount of people and resources needed to produce a film are enough to make this road the hardest to pave. I'm so glad there are artists out there doing so...go see it and let me know your thoughts!!

How did I miss this?

My friend Ana posted this...and I had to copy and paste...who knew? Sadly Canada is not quite up with this trend. The plastic wraps have it...but not the aluminum foil...

I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself. Whoever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box?

You know when you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said Press here to lock end.

Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up. I'm sharing this with my friends. I hope I'm not the only person who didn't know about this.

Last night

So at one point last night I controlled North America, South America, and Africa. I owned three continents and that still wasn't enough...I wanted more! I tried to go into Europe, and made a decent stand, but Russia was a killer. I then attempted to fortify my boarders, and just when I was about to take my stand and surely leave all others in the dust a surprise attack came at me. It started in Northern Africa and ended in the North American continent. By the end of the whole ordeal, my soldiers were tired, angry, and discouraged. We tried to call for back up, but the men we had been promised were no longer available. We called on our alliances, but after the damage had been done there was little they could do. We had outlasted all the others, but Asia was coming for us fast. After moments of panic, and them moments of acceptance we drew our white flag. The battle ahead could have held moments of victory, but defeat was on the horizon. I bowed my head and in honor of my army's long fight vowed that they should end with some dignity. We saw the end we didn't need to see each territory one by one swept away by an intense duel. Just wait Mr. P next time it won't be so easy.......(don don da)

All in all my first attempt at Risk went quite well.

So for the past few months Andy has been keeping track of misquoted sayings.... here are our favorites...we just thought we'd share

Keep your ear to the grindstone
We're taking a ramp in the park
Its where the mustard meets the road
Throw a monkey in the wrench
Don't put the cat in front of the horse
Its easy to feel like just another piece in the cog

everything i've been up to

(as i'm writing this and trying to capture my thoughts accurately, my wife is yelling "just write it and press 'go'.")

Carla and i bought the dvds of the short lived tv series 'Firefly' a couple weeks ago. it was better than i was expecting, and i have to say i was expecting a lot. it makes me sad that i didn't watch it while it was on tv, but the fans rallied around the show and it was still canceled, so i guess it doesn't really matter. regardless, i was happy to watch it and have ordered the two comic book series that bridge the story from the end of the show to the movie.

has anyone out there ever met Pete Sakes? me neither, but the way the Carrozziere girls talk about him, you'd think he was a close cousin. every other sentence over Christmas break, somebody was doing something for Pete Sakes. i ventured to suggest to Carla the other night that she might try doing something for Pete's sake. blank stare...

my guitar had a crack in the neck! my Martin. it broke my heart, but the guy at the store repaired the crack and my heart with a little glue and polish. there's a lesson here. don't get too attached to your personal possessions, you never know when you'll move to a dry climate and find them cracked even though you bought a humidifier to prevent that very thing.

pitchers and catchers report in ten days. bring it on.

congrats to Rachel Carrozziere, Rochester's newest equity actress. i was also interested to learn this has nothing to do with buying a house.

lastly, a saw. we still had our Christmas tree on our porch. waiting to be taken down to our car and hauled off to some place that takes them. but then you've got a trail of pine needles leading all the way from the parking garage down the hall right to our door. i decided to buy a saw and chop that sucker up. i'm starting to settle into my role as a husband, i think.

Simply Difficult

So I've danced since I was three years old, and because of this career choice have participated in almost every type of 'get in shape' class. I've done bits of Pilate's, tae-bo, aerobics, salsa, and just about any other class you could see being offered at a gym. Surprisingly though today was my very first ever Yoga class. I walked into a beautifully decorated room with four vaporizers adding just a comforting touch of warmth. We started by just laying down on our mats. I have to say that I had heard Yoga was a work out, but who really believes it when you are in a spa like room laying down. I'm not sure what happened in the next 50 minutes, but I barely moved off my mat, stood for only ten minutes maybe, and yet was sweating and gasping for air. It looks easy, and when the demonstrator goes to the position you are tricked in to thinking it is simple. Yeah well here is a warning to all...Its one of the hardest workouts I've ever done. I loved it!!! I'll be going back on Wednesday and kicking this body back into shape!
