By the way

Brad Lidge for Michael Bourne was the best trade Ed Wade over made for the Phillies.

Of course he was the Astros GM at the time...

Philadelphia Philies - 2008 World Series Champions

It hasn't quite set in yet, but the champagne is on ice no longer.

25 years since the last title in the city.
28 since the last time the Phils won.

Tonight the wait is over.  Danielle and Kyle were there.  I have already been told by Amanda that she is cutting class for the parade (Friday at Noon, Eastern time).  It starts out front of Zoomie's office building, he plans on attending.

All in all, it was an impressive season.  The bullpen was perfect all season.  Ryan Howard is in the running for his second MVP.

But most importantly, the Philadelphia Phillies are World Series Champions!!

Last day??

So today we see if the Phillies will win it at home.  Game 51/2 here we go!  I'll give you the update after the game.

Game 1

First off, I don't know what that "moment of silence" stuff was about.

Game one... it was a little intense.  Cole was awesome, 7 innings, 2 runs.  The hitting was not so great.  Chase was good, of course.  Werth had a great game.  Shane played well.  Jimmy Rollins was swinging at anything but strikes.  I don't know what Howard's deal is.  I'm waiting for him to come around, I'm sure he will, but man he's been hitting poorly.

But the bullpen was awesome, and that was all we needed.

Jim Caple (for ESPN) picked the Rays to sweep.  He said that the AL vs the NL in this Series is like the MLB vs AAA minors.  Well I'm finished with that guy and all of his articles.

Game 2 is tomorrow.  Let's Go Phils!!

Day 1

So today is the day....Lets all have a moment of silence for the Phills...and hope they can make some history!

Long awaited and still waiting

After 15 years, the Phils find themselves in the World Series.  It's difficult to capture my emotions.  Certainly euphoria on Wednesday night.  A convincing win to clinch the series.  (Although there are those at Fox who would lead you to believe the Dodgers still have a chance.)  Then determination on Thursday, we need to prepare for Tampa.  Until the 7th inning, then that was out the window.  More of the same last night, and now the waiting game.  So tonight all questions are answered, until Wednesday.

In other news, we played dodge ball yesterday for two hours and it feels like I ran a marathon.  I have no energy and I ache.  I'm disappointed with myself.

TGIF

So I am sure that you are all anxiously awaiting a response from the Prescott's concerning Wednesday nights' game.  Andy is so excited that I told him he has to blog because I just can't capture that much enthusiasm.  So stay tuned :)
As for the other events of our week, we just came back from a great weekend spent with our friends in Houston.  It was so good to see all of you, and just to be back.  We miss being Texans.
This week I started my new job at Trinity Christian School as a paraprofessional for a kindergarten classroom.  I am now daily reminded just how cute five year-olds are.  I am also reminded how dramatic life can be at that age.  A loose tooth is almost as exciting as Christmas and memorizing your telephone number gives you a sticker on the bulletin board.  (I'm not exaggerating....a sticker!!)  This week I've been sent back in time to a day when nap time is scheduled in and snack time includes your favorite story read to you.  Where you meet your best friend going down the slide at recess and your day is ruined by spilling your milk.  I have to say that I'm enjoying it, and I'm excited to go back to kindergarten on Tuesday.

'Visionary'

So here is a poem I wrote a while ago, but I still like! I just thought I would share.

'Visionary'

What are you writing?
I don't know he said

Some of nothing, a scribbled note
A bit of everything, just something I wrote

Then with thoughtful surprise he returned to his page
An intriguing resolve refocused his gaze

Well, what's it about?
I don't know he replied

Butterflies melting and June bugs that sew
Make-believe countries and places I know

Maybe sun drops smiling with crowns on their heads
Apple seeds stewing on sizzling sleds

Silently glancing he winked with a sigh
His rustling pages reclaiming his eye

Well, what's your idea?
He smirked and then smiled

Symphonies unraveling and tapestries that sing
Clouds that tell stories of princes and kings

A dance where you laugh and kick till you bend
Fly as you melt and leap, leap till the end

His pen kept its tapping as he drifted away
No doubt contemplating this movement array.

Why are you writting?
His ears perked to a grin...and his pen was laid down

....Ah my friend you have asked a good question...

To dare and inspire dreams that have fallen
To awake dormant minds for children to crawl in

For nonsense to be; imagination to breath
Igniting the seas, reasons to believe

For there's endless horizons where hues may be spoken
Colors splashed within reach of lives that are broken

Happy Holidays

Happy Thanksgiving!!!! I have never been so excited to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving.  It feels much to early in the year to be eating turkey and stuffing, but it does feel like a great weekend to fly to Texas. I'm so excited to go back.  For those of you in H-town...can't wait to see you!!!

Its late...but we have to finish the derby

Andy is just about to beat the Wii home run derby. So even though we said we were going to bed by ten; what we really meant was after he won :) For those of you who are not up to speed let me catch you up on the Phillies status.  They have just advanced to the NLCS (which translated is National League Championship Series)  If they win this we are in the World Series!!!! The tension and excitement in our living room is unbelievable.

So, it has been a while since I wrote.  It has been a busy week.  There are ups and downs to moving and leaving one life to start one somewhere else.  The transition is made easier when you know God has lead you to this new place.  This past weekend Andy and I have just felt God confirming that we are to be here and His promise to take care of us.  So what happened?? Well, I guess nothing remarkable, but we had three straight nights of hanging out with new friends.  I guess you don't expect to find a fit so quickly.  We have only been here two months and yet we have found a home church, joined a small group, I'm dancing with a company, and we've met quite a few young couples in the area.  I never expected to be friendless for two years, but I also wasn't expecting to feel connected so quickly.  God knows what we need and provides in ways that we never thought possible.  It seems that in every stage of life I've always doubted that He could ....but He can and does.  The sermon on Sunday was on doubt.  How many times do we doubt God?  If we are human then probably quite a few times.  The pastor was speaking about what we do with doubt.  Just because we have it doesn't mean we have to believe it...hmmm think about that.  What if we always questioned our doubt.  What if every time it posed a question in our heads we questioned back.....Well, that's a new goal...a new perspective...well, its late...I'll write more  tomorrow.
